ABOUT THE ROLE

The Director, Engineering Operational lntelligence, is a strategic role within our team and will be responsible for supporting the functional excellence of the corporate technology office, providing intelligence on our engineering portfolio, and developing a data and analytics strategy for our engineering function. This role will report to the Chief Technology Officer, Digital Technologies, and will functionally report to the VP of Functional Excellence, to ensure data-driven decision-making across the organization.


Execute the Corporate Technology Office's Functional Excellence initiatives

  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to track performance metrics and KPIs relevant to the technology office.

  • Drive closed loop systems creation using lean methodologies and technology to accomplish break through results

  • Execute on the corporate technology office in improving functional excellence initiatives.

  • Implement data-driven methodologies to enhance technology processes and operations.

  • Provide data insights and recommendations to aid decision-making and strategic planning within the technology office.

  • Ensure that data initiatives are aligned with the overall goals and objectives of the corporate technology office.

  • Owns the waterline process, the Engineering portion of Profit Planning.

Provide Intelligence and Analysis on Product Portfolio and Strategic External and Internal Benchmarking, Portfolio Analysis, and  Activities

  • Conduct thorough analysis of the company’s product portfolio to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.

  • Perform strategic external benchmarking to compare the company’s product and technology assets with those of competitors and industry leaders.

  • Carry out internal benchmarking to assess the performance and innovation of product and technology assets across different business units and teams.

  • Develop and implement tools and methodologies for comprehensive portfolio analysis, including patent analytics and technology trend analysis.

  • Generate insights and reports to guide product and technology strategy, innovation efforts, and competitive positioning.

  • Collaborate with legal, R&D, and business development teams to aid decision-making related to product and technology roadmaps.

  • Identify innovation opportunities within the product and technology  portfolio to drive competitive advantage and market leadership.

  • Provide intelligence, analysis, and reporting for annual profit planning and capital deployment to achieve Eaton's strategic objectives.

Develop Data and Analytics Strategy for Company's Engineering Systems

  • Define and execute the data and analytics strategy for the company’s engineering processes.

  • Oversee the integration of data from various engineering systems to establish a unified and accessible data environment.

  • Implement advanced analytics and machine learning models to optimize engineering processes and product development.

  • Ensure data quality, governance, and compliance within engineering systems.

  • Provide training and support to engineering teams on data utilization and analytics tools.

  • Collaborate with engineering leadership to align data initiatives with engineering goals and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • A relevant degree such as Master’s or Bachelor’s in Engineering,  Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, Finance or Business.

  • 10+, of which at least 5 years in data analytics in a professional environment.

  • Proficiency in LEAN methodologies, SQL, Hadoop, Palantir, Tableau, PowerBI, SAS, and at least one scripting/compiled/statistical programming language (Python, R)
